Interested in bringing a Tour Group to visit the Steubenville Nutcracker Village?
Here are answers to some of our most commonly asked questions, to help you plan your trip!
Here are answers to some of our most commonly asked questions, to help you plan your trip!
- When can we bring a tour group? Anytime! The Nutcrackers go on display November 21, 2023 and will remain out 24/7 through January 6, 2024. Typically, there are additional events on weekend afternoons (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) such as theater performances, concerts, hayrides, and children's activities. Let us know when you're coming so we can anticipate your visit! Call (740) 371-6020 or email [email protected].
- What is the cost to visit the Steubenville Nutcracker Village? Nothing! The Steubenville Nutcracker Village is FREE and open to the public 24/7 during the Christmas season. Aspects of the additional holiday events in Steubenville may have a small fee, such as concerts, trolley rides, games, or museum tours.
- What is the Steubenville Nutcracker Village? What can we tell our tour group to make them excited? The Steubenville Nutcracker Village is a collection of over 200 lifesize nutcrackers that have been handcarved by local artist Brodie Stutzman. Each nutcracker is uniquely designed for a business or individual in the community and is handpainted by Therese Fedoryka and a variety of local volunteer artists. The first nutcrackers were created in 2015 thanks to the vision of local business owner Mark Nelson (Nelson Fine Art & Gifts) and the collection has grown every year since! The Steubenville Nutcracker Village has been recognized as a top holiday attraction by the State of Ohio Tourism Department and is included on the annual Holiday Lights Trail, and is often featured by OnlyInYourState, the Ohio Country Journal, and Pittsburgh Tribune.
- What is the best time to visit? We always recommend timing your visit so you can enjoy the nutcrackers during the daytime, when their details are best seen by sunlight. Then take a short break (grab a bite to eat or do some Christmas shopping!) and come for another walk after dark under the twinkle of Christmas lights.
- Where can we park a bus? All street parking and downtown lots are FREE and unlimited on time for the whole Christmas season (so you can disregard the street signs that may say otherwise). Tri-State Financial Services has generously offered their parking lots for tour buses this year at 255 N. 3rd Street. Fort Steuben Park offers limited bus parking, if you call ahead of time to reserve the space (740.283.1787) and we are also able to arrange for specific street or lot parking if we know you are coming ahead of time.
- Where can we eat dinner / lunch? Here are a few restaurants within walking distance of the Nutcracker Village that offer seating for more than 25: Leonardo's Coffeehouse, Froehlich's Classic Corner, Naples Spaghetti House, Martoni’s Fire-baked Pizza, 4th Street Standard. A few of these restaurants also have bus parking available, so be sure to call ahead of time!
- Where can we get maps? If we know you are coming ahead of time, we can meet you at your parking site with maps! You can also pick them up at Drosselmeyer's Nutcracker Shoppe (155 N. 4th Street - this is where all the nutcrackers are made!), Tri-State Financial Services (255 N. 3rd Street), and the Steubenville Visitor's Center (120 S. 3rd Street) or print them off before you go: The Nutcracker Map
- What else is there to do in the area? Please check our Schedule Page for a full list of activities taking place on your visit date. In addition to events put on by the Steubenville Nutcracker Village, we recommend incorporating some of the following activities into your visit:

- Tour Historic Fort Steuben (120 S. 3rd Street)
- Visit the Jefferson County Historical Museum (call to arrange tours: 740.283.1133)
- Shop local! We recommend the Antique Warehouse (322 Market Street), Bookmarx Bookstore (181 N. 4th Street), Steubenville Popcorn Company (157 N. 4th Street), The Workshop (157 N. 3rd Street) and the Downtown Bakery (151 S. 4th Street)
- Take a tour of the Grand Theater. This beautiful space is currently under renovation, but tours can be arranged for the Theater and Museum by calling (740) 632-2899
- Are there restrooms? There are several locations for restrooms along the Nutcracker route. Leonardo's Coffeehouse (159 N. 4th Street) offers indoor toilets daily until 10PM. Fort Steuben Park (120 S. 3rd Street) has heated portajons open every day until 6PM. Our Children's Corner (338 Market Street) is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 3PM-8PM with indoor toilets also!
- Can this be a driving tour? Yes! We recommend driving through on a Sunday before 12PM, when there is the least amount of traffic downtown and fewer cars parked on the side of the road. Here's a map to guide you on the tour!
