How much does it cost to visit the Nutcracker Village?
Nothing! The Steubenville Nutcracker Village is FREE and open to the public 24/7 during the Christmas season - this means you can view all the nutcrackers on your own schedule and on your own budget! Aspects of the additional holiday events in Steubenville may have a small fee, such as concerts, trolley rides, games, or museum tours.
Where do we park? How much does parking cost?
You can park anywhere in downtown Steubenville! All street parking and downtown lots are FREE and unlimited on time for the whole Christmas season (so you can disregard the street signs that may say otherwise). We recommend starting your journey at Drosselmeyer's Nutcracker Shoppe at 155 N. 4th Street, where all the nutcrackers are created!
Is the Nutcracker Village handicap/wheelchair accessible?
A majority of the nutcrackers are out for display on city sidewalks, so they are as accessible as any old city sidewalks (watch out for bumps and cracks though!) Some nutcrackers are displayed within Fort Steuben Park (120 S. 3rd Street), which has a handicap accessible parking lot and sidewalks. A few nutcrackers are displayed within shops, so accessibility may be limited to those buildings.
Can this be a driving tour?
Yes! We recommend driving through on a Sunday before 12PM, when there is the least amount of traffic downtown and fewer cars parked on the side of the road. Here's a map to guide you on the tour!
Can I bring my dog?
Yes! All pets must stay on a leash or be otherwise contained. Please clean up anything left behind by your pet!
Are there restrooms?
There are several locations for restrooms along the Nutcracker route. Leonardo's Coffeehouse (159 N. 4th Street) offers indoor toilets daily until 10PM. Fort Steuben Park (120 S. 3rd Street) has heated portajons open every day until 8PM. Our Children's Corner (338 Market Street) is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 3PM-8PM with indoor toilets also!

Why aren't the Nutcrackers just in Fort Steuben Park now?
Ten years ago we had a dream of bringing light and life back to our historic downtown--to help people rediscover the treasures here and to share our belief in the revitalization of Steubenville. When we first created our life-size nutcrackers, there weren't enough to populate all of downtown, so Historic Fort Steuben generously offered their park as the initial home. Ten years in, we now have 200+ nutcrackers and we can realize our original dream of having our beloved characters transform our downtown streets into a place of Christmas magic and good cheer. You will still be able to find some of your nutcracker friends in the Fort, but we're excited to announce that our vision has come to fruition, and they will now be found all through the Historic Business District.
How do I sponsor a Nutcracker? Can you make a custom Nutcracker for me?
All nutcrackers are sponsored on a first come, first served basis each season. If you are interested in becoming a nutcracker sponsor, please email [email protected]. If you would like to have a custom nutcracker made, please fill out our online application form and someone will get back with you soon! We only make a few additional nutcrackers each season, and have a very long waiting list, so please note that applying is not a guarantee of a lifesize nutcracker creation!
